The year 2008 has been a very challenging period for everyone of us in the world. From the positive point of view, the historical First Annual Drukpa Council to be taking place in April 2009 was announced at the begining of 2008.

Dharma teachings of His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa in Vietnam and Malaysia as well as Europe were so successful and has benefited more then 80,000 peoples and miraculous signs like Dragon in the sky of Vietnam, sun, moon and stars appearing together at Drukpa Tay Thien Pagoda and many other temples appeared, signifying the revival of reverence and devotion towards the Dharma and the Law of Nature.

His Majesty the Fifth King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck came to the throne of the Dharma Kingdom of Druk or Bhutan and by doing so, it assured that the Drukpa Lineage, all Dharma and all values that are positive and good in the world will be safeguarded for the foreseeable future.

But on the negative note, natural disasters such as the earthquakes in Sichuan and the typhoons in Myanmar as well as the recent world financial crisis have saddened all of us and brought to our attention the result of  unlimited desires and not following the Law of Interdependence and our lack of consideration for others and our environment.

 It is very true that sufferings are always connected with the way we live as individuals or collectively as a society! Looking at the sufferings of the world today I am realizing more and more the truth of His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa's teachings:

The Dharma is a way of living our life, everything in life is about spiritual practice and we should pratice "Live to Love".

Truly, we are all very fortunate to have such a very rare and precious spiritual masters like His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa, H.H. Je Khenpo and other masters who continuously teach us the skillful ways of "Live to Love" through their own actions and activities. But as His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa has recently said in his message:

The relationship between a master and his followers is a two way traffic, it is therefore very important for us to follow the instructions and the guidance now that we have met such genuine masters in a difficult age as now.

While appreciating our own good fortune, it is very important that we think of those who are less fortunate, who are living under the threats of wars, terrorism, natural disasters, health and financial problems and other life-threatening situations, we have to put into action the teachings we have received by pledging ourselves, at our best capacity as good human beings, to always make a positive difference in our life as well as in this world that we share with countless of other beings.

If we have a strong positive motivation, there is no limit to how much we can serve our precious spiritual lineage and how even to the farthest corners of earth, our actions of Live to Love can bring a positive and beneficial change.

Along with new year of 2009, there will be new opportunities and many new beginnings. If we can utilize these opportunities then in year 2010, we can look back with joy and satisfaction of living a life that has made a difference in the world by our way of Living to Love!

As His Holiness himself has said, by Living to Love we will be truly fulfilling his wish and it will also be the genuine long life pooja for him, as well as for all our Dragon masters and all other great beings. My wish and dedication for the year is for all beings to attain HAPPINESS and ITS CAUSES through living with Understanding, Compassion, Love, Peace and Harmony.

May the historical First Annual Drukpa Council ensure that our 800-year-old Drukpa Legacy continue to benefit all beings by spreading the messages of LIVE TO LOVE to all corners of the world. This is my heartfelt prayer.
